What are the key elements of Surrealism? Surrealism started in 1924 in Paris with Andre Berton, he got inspired by Sigmund Freud- he believed there is deep layer in the human mind where memory and our most basic instinct where stored and he called it the unconscious mind as most of the time we were not aware of it. The primary motivation for all things in life is sex, Berton believed the desire was central to the surrealism vision of love,poetry and liberty it was the key to understanding to human beings.Surrealist liked to put two objects together that were not associated with each other together to make it playful and disturbing at the same time in order to stimulate the unconscious mind. two types of surrealist painting one is about dreams, its the motivation the dreams are based all about different thing but majorly about sex. it was called automatism three association which was designed to reavel the unconscious mind. Postmodern and Goodwin theory.

Task1/Task2 In the music video there are refrences to postmodern effects. For example in the video there is links to horror genre. This is shown when the girl gets dragged in the darkness, this is a typical horror movie scene as in horror movie we always see the victims getting dragged in darkness. Therefore, this texts use the postmodern trait from horror movies in order to create effects to the audience to get into the video more. This is called intertextual refrence as it uses other texts to make the video better. In the music video there is another postmodern reference, which is narrative. In the music video what ever the lyrics are saying we can see it on the screen, this has a narrative as it shows a story behind video. For example when it says 'lady, running down to the reptile' we can see a lady running which shows that there is a story as she is getting to a destination. Task 1: "Genre are instance of repetition and and difference"              "Difference is essential to the economy of genre" more repetition wont attract audience. Task 2: Similarities: -They all have bright colours which allows the audience to get attracted to the video. -They all have some sort of flashbacks and they have a concept behind it. -They all have some sort of nature related, they always have a meaning behind their songs. Diffrences - some have more flashbacks in them then others and some portray the flashback in different way. - some have more sophisticated setting then others. -some video have different type darker then brighter colours.

Dizzee Rascal's Dream (Andrew Goodwin's Theory)

A relationship between the lyrics and the visuals. In this part of the music video we can see a long shot of an elderly woman seating on the piano. Furthermore, we can see a small box on top of the piano. This links to Goodwin's theory as in the video we can hear the woman saying 'should we see what Dizzee Rascal is doing today boys and girls' and then straight afterwards she also says 'He is such a Racal' and then we see Dizzee Rascal come out the box. This is linked with Goodwin's theory as it shows us that the  lyrics and she is pronoucing are linked with the visuals we are seeing. A relationship between the music and the visuals.  In this part of the music video we see a long shot of Dizzee Rascal hanging about next to a off licence and him talking about the girls.
