In the 1940 the advert is used for propagnada purposes in order to requirt woman to work in the factories for the man, in the advert there is a quote 'The soldiers need out help! round up the american woman. this illustrated that the woman were suppose go in the factories, they needed them because they needed woman to win war because without them they won't be able to win it because they would not have essentials to support the soldiers. Furthermore, the quote 'Turns out you gals are useful after all' this can emphasise that the woman were seen as not a useful individual and were treated badly and not respected. however, that picture represents that woman were needed in the war and were seen in a postion to do real work, they saw woman as not useful when they were just staying home, they saw what they did at home was nothing, going into factories was seen the real work which apparently was appropriate for them to say that as they had the right,it is trivialising what they did at home is nothing. Lastly, they encourage woman do go out of their demestoic sphere and work in the puplic sphere.

This contrasts with the 1950 advert as that advert encouraged woman to go back home and look after the family and be joyful. The advert promoted consumerism, capitalism and materialism, they were selling domestic products in order to improve woman life and make them better house wife, the domestic commodities were see as aspirational because only rich people were seen to have washing machines. Woman were suppose to come back home because man were returning from war and woman were meant to come back to look after the family.
